After the death of Prince Albert in 1861, Queen Victoria wore mourning dress for the rest of her life, the striking black fabrics and trims becoming instantly recognisable around the world.

Echoing the quiet symbolism of this tradition, the ring pairs a deep black Agate gemstone with soft lavender stones, their contrast recalling the rich black fabrics and delicate trims of Victorian mourning dress.
